Mayadevi Temple(White Temple)
Lumbini is the birth place of Lord Buddha (Siddhatha Gautum Budhha).Who is known as "The Light of Asia". It is the holy place to the millions of Buddhists all over the world and all peace lover. Lord Buddha was born here in 623 B.C. on full moon day in the month of Baisakh. He was born under a tree of Shorea Robusta while Mayadevi was going to her maternal home Devadah for her delivery. The king of Kapilvastu Suddhodhan Shakya was the father of Lord Buddha.
It lies in Lumbini zone's Rupandehi district of Nepal. It is situated about 22 k.m. west from Bhairahawa (Siddharthanagar) the capital of Rupandehi district. It is about 300 k .m. west from the Kathmandu the Capital city of Nepal.You can easily go there via a 45 minute flight from Kathmandu to Gautam Buddha Airport at Bhairawa . Buses run regulary after every hour or so all day from Bhairahawa to Lumbini.
